If you're travelling somewhere and you can probably train fairly normally, here are a few easy tips to keep up your routine while on the road:
- Search online to find the closest local pool where you can do some swim workouts
- Get a portable bike trainer and bring your bike along to do some bike workouts in your hotel room
- Google safe running routes and/or trails in the area you will be staying
- Post on the social feed in the MOTTIV app and ask if there are any athletes in the area who might like to do a couple of training sessions with you while you're there!
Don't fret if your training isn't bang-on while you're away. Give yourself some grace and rest when you can; rest and recovery will do more for your progress than stressing over missed/changed workouts.
If you can't do your training plan workouts, still make an attempt to get in some exercise. If you're at a hotel with a gym, hop on an exercise bike or a treadmill and just do an easy Zone 2 workout for 30-60 minutes. Or do a recovery swim if there's a small pool or a body of water where you're staying.
If you can't do your workouts exactly (or at all), make a point of going for some walks or hikes, just to get some movement into your body each day.
